I'm a Naval Architecture student looking for work as a boat builder or designer. My field of interest is high performance sailboats and custom work.
I have a lot of experience in wet layups, vacuum bagging, wood construction, assembly of Hypalon tubes. I know how to build tooling and plugs. I have some prepreg experience. I also worked as a sailmaker and a sailing instructor.

Let me know if anyone is interested.
    Cheers,
    Wojtek

Well as a fellow Canadian naval architecture student and former boat builder/repairer I can tell you there is lots of work around in both fields. It really shouldn't be hard to find something. Do all the normal job finding things. Internet posts are probably the least effective way to find work. Send out resumes to places that interest you, give them a phone call if you don't hear anything after a week or two. Ask around and try to find out who is hiring.

Also a company that is doing naval architecture on tugboats or offshore or icebreaker might not be what you are looking for, but you would still get very valuable experience. All the same engineering and drafting principles apply. Last summer every student in my program who wanted a job, got a job. From military contractors, to yacht designers, to the Coast Guard and many things in between.

This is a post I made before about Canadian companies that I know have hired naval architecture students:
    http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/showthread.php?t=18102

You could also add BMT Fleet to that list. http://www.fleetech.com/

If you are more interested in boat building/repair work I could also give you many companies to try on Vancouver Island.
