fedcourtdawg, I had read somewhere (maybe even on this forum...it has 27 pages!!) where someone removed the flybridge from his boat to make more room for fishing. I'm not sure if it was the same boat as yours, but like I said, I remember reading about it somewhere. Good luck.

    Re: Impboatclub.com

The impboatclub.com website will be back up in a few weeks, I had a major heart attack last July, and was not able to keep up with the site during my rehab. Unfortunately, the discussion forum was deleted when the host I was using upgraded to new software(A lot of websites were lost in this fiasco!)
I have managed to recover most of the images, boat brochures,... but the text database is gone. I am working with a new hosting co. to get the site back up as soon as possible. I will update this post as soon as I get the site up.

Wow Dave, sorry to hear about your heart attack, but good to see you have come back from it! I never got to see the site since I've only had my IMP for a couple of months, but I am looking forward to it. Thanks for the post and will be keeping watch. Good luck on your continuing rehab as well.

hi all i did get the boat home yesterday and was pleased to get here as a 200 mile trip in a 30mph cross breeze was a trip to say the least. i looked over the flybridge removal idea and desided to just wait a bit on removing it. i think all it needs is a steering colum inline fluid tank. it,s cracked beyond repair and leaking. it did start and sounds good, came with a 351 ford windsor engine with the omc drive as well. looks like i,m going to be accepting all kinds of info and help here so thanks in advance for it.

The Identification tag for the 351 windsor 235 hp is located on the front of the engine block.

thanks dave i had to do the old hands and knees to see it ,but got it . it was painted over a couple of times looked like. now i,m full tilt in the middle of getting back to shape now. the engine is really strong and i talked with the last owner and it looks like i,m the 3rd owner. the problem i have now is the steering. i removed the flybridge and when i saw that the 3 fluid quick connect lines under the steering pod i got lucky. i disconnected all 3 and snaked them back thru the support post as i did with the wiring harness as well.but on the bottom steering pod at the captains spot. i see they arent quick disconnect. i,m not sure what to do with the 3rd line. i have 2 lines direct from the main steering going back to the rear of the boat to steer it. the 2 lines that came down from the top steering go to each T in the fluid line that runs along the side of the boat to the rear. now i,v removed the 2 lines with the quick disconnet that lead from the top unit to the T section tie in. i unscrewed the lines and just put caps on each line at the T. now i,m not sure waht to do with the 3rd line that comes from the top unit. it goes directly to the bottom steering unit with no disconnect at the lower unit.i filled the lower steering unit back up with fluid as it was low and it brought back all my steering and i found out the main steering head is leaking like crazy right where the steering wheel connects. lookes like a seal or crack cant tell for sure. i dont know what to do with the 3 rd line that is connected to the main steering wheel as i dont see any way to remove it without cutting it off? any ideas. if need be i can be reached at 913-766-8606 pretty much anytime 11 to 7 every day . central time,,,thanks for the help ....

you need to find a stand single station steering setup, through a boat salvage yard, is the best bet, does not have to come from an I.M.P., just has to be OMC, and same year. make sure cable and line lengths are right for your boat, these came varying from 14 ft to 32 feet depending on the application
btw, i wish i had the funds, id have you ship that flybridge to california, would work well on the hardtop i am building for my Aztec

thanks dave for the info. i went to a place here in my town . us boat works. a bunch of ol omc guys that rock. like they told me today . if we dont know the answer then you dont need the boat ,lol what ever that meant. i did get hooked up with a answer on my steering issues. we are taking both steering head tanks to them to salvage one perhaps as both outer plactic shells have problems ,one is wasted beyond repair and the other has a crack that is mendable i hope. found one good seal out of the two and perhaps they can retrieve the steering center post out of the bad one to transplant. fingers crossed. otherwise a new tank/pump unit is apporx. $600.00....and as for the flybridge i could check on thwe $ to truck it to you on a pallet or something ,up tp you. let me know befor i cut it up.

    kicker bracket

    Thanks edjunior,

Attached is my kicker bracket. It is made from aluminum. It is strong, light, and because I fish in the Pacific Ocean, rustproof. My boat is a 1978 20' Aztec. Enjoy.

    kicker bracket

Hi Folks, now that I know how to post a picture. Here is my beautiful IMP. I have had it for 3 years and love it except that it pounds more in the Ocean than my other boat but in lakes, it is a joy to drive. My deckhand is "swabbing the Deck" in the picture. 105_4706.jpg

There is a place in Rancho Cordova California called shipwreck marine, they have most anything omc, may have your pump and tank unit at a better price
    worth checking out!
dont have the number, but the R.C. calif area code is 916
    411 will have the number
as for the flybridge, sure, get a price to ship, but most likely out of my budget

thanks again dave for the info. i struck out big time today on the steering fluid tank items. i called every salvage place i could find and talked to teleflex in canada and they just chuckled at me for even wanting a 30 yr. old part. i,m in need of the hyd. steering helm for the boat now. it,s a black cover that acts as the fluid tank for the steering. it sets just under the steering wheel so if anyone knows of a place i,m deeply in your dept.,,and as for the shipping on the flybridge i got back a estimate on shipping , it was $225.00 by truck frieght.
