1. The Marketplace Forums can be useful for members who know one another well from forum discussions and offline communications and wish to post boatbuilding tools, drafting tools, molds and tooling, and other professional equipment for sale or trade. However, caution and good judgement should always be used. Especially when considering any business with anyone not already well known to you and trusted, due diligence must be used to confirm details and identity and be sure the transaction is safe before any money or property changes hands. Always use good judgement and perform due dilligence and follow these guidelines.

Looking for a good manufacturer of custom curved glass for windshields. Who do you use? Who do you know?

    Thank you.

We use Taylor, but since they have cornered the market the price and lead times have been increasing. I'm trying to find alternatives, promote some healthy competition.

Talk with Carlos at Acrylico. Don't have his number on me but they do have a website.

Try www.updplastics.com. They have the largest web site for stock acrylic windshields on the web. You can see pictures color samples and prices. They also do 3D digitizing of metal frames for curved glass as well or acrylic curves for metal frame if you don't want to spend a lot of money on glass.

    Good luck

I may have another option that may work fo you. I am an Aircraft Mechanic/Inspector and work for a company in Van Nuys Ca. by the name of Aero-Nasch Aviation. We have a very large machine that is used to heat lexan/plastic sheet and vacume the material over a mold. Not sure of the name of the machine, but it would be the same process that others would use. We manufacture aircraft interior components with it. Anyway, it should be able to form boat canopies, windshieds etc. very easily once a fairly inexpensive mold is made. If you are interested, contact Eddie Ester at Aero-Nasch aviation.

Its funny, but just last week I had a conversation with the owner and mentioned this possibility. He is always open to new things.
    Good luck....
