Well im back after wee spell of opening up my new business and trying to get that up and running and over the last few months ive read some very interesting write ups, Ive also noticed that things tend to get of track alittle bit. in our local paper there are stories of people buying property inland from the city and on higher ground, and are also growing plants and gettnig theselves ready for "DoomsDay" and in the last month i know of 3 families who have bought and moved onto yachts, and getting them ready for long term trips/survival. Me well im still living on my yacht and am thinking bout upgrading to a slightly larger one.(35ft) im also planning a trip to the ice in 2 years time to have a look round as they now say that in 5-10 years it wont be there (or be to dangerous to go down there.)Has anybody else made any progress or has any information on the predicted "Ice age" or so the media calls it.

im still living life as easy as I can, as my business is very stressful and its nice staying on my boat. and the way petrol prices are, they say we have already tapped into our fuel reserves.

    any feed back....

I reckon you are on a safe track, the emus with heads buried in the sand of denial are still rampant and raving of the revenge of god or something.

Sarcasm and sardonic wit apply some interest in a lot of useless pontification, allowing serious discussion to continue unabated with minimal innain drivel from the unwashed masses (*******). PM's are the go for personal serious information transfer.

You've got a fair bit of reading, I am only just starting to find the interesting bits. Then I come out to play and bait the dogs or is it bear baiting?

Its quite funny what you read in the papers and hear on the news, and how different people react to different things, at the end of the day no one will know which volcano is going to burst or how high the water will rise, but looking at the geograpghy of nz, im still fairly sure i will be safer in my little ship, than being caught out on dry land with thousands of homeless people, and everybody looting and killing for something that a few sensible people had the forethought to do (in the way of preperation.) i mean if i spent all my hard earnings buying a property and getting it ready for me and my family for the worst that can happen in the world, and then some ******** comes in and shoots all my family and myself and then just takes over all the hard work that we have spent x number of years trying to build up. I would be really pissed off.

id rather be on my boat with a few close friends and sailing and taking my chances out on the water then on dry land. land there would also be alot f sickness to worry about as well.

is anybody familer with a yacht made by Ganley??

Havn't heard of the name - sailing mono? I doubt that the time is nigh. The worst case scenario I could extract from climatology analysts was that there would be a window of at least 10 years from "the sky is falling" - an acknowledgement that the Antarctic and Greenland was irreversibly melting - to being water.

Quite a degree of scepticism as Antarctic ice is replenishing at a rate greater than Greenland melt, BUT recent data from specialised buoys in the Antarctic suggest far higher water temperatures than hitherto thought.

Historic previous high water marks not necessarily applicable due to plate shift. The ice on ground (not floating) could represent up to 70m. Future tectonic movements could ameliorate any water level increase. Volcanic eruptions are only serious if you are very close to falling ash or a pyroclasic flow. (Rabaul was quite spectacular)

My feeling is to seek land on the high side of plate movement (ie another plate is moving under to further push up islands), and being islands should have more rain due to diurnal influences, particularly near the tropics.

Westie, I certainly hope you are not Muslim. I heard changing to Christianity was a capital offence (execution) and abusing a bottle of Whiskey by imbibing was similarly displeasing to the religious courts?

Buying a bible to do research & respond to biblical questions? tut, tut.

No, Masalai is a "tok pisin" word from Papua New Guinea which can be interpreted to mean a white spirit. Not the drinking kind, but more of a "Casper" kind - a ghost - but not necessarily friendly.

I have worked in Malaysia, around Pulau Pinang, Long ago. All I can remember now is a few curse/swear words in Malay, Hokien & Pakistani. and fond memories of a fascinating country.

That definition applies too. You would too if your beloved Paris was threatened with the potential for inundation.

Also I have heard/seen in Malaysian jokes something like "white lie" in all English interpretations/meanings.

    Your home is?

Ari, I am sure your sentiments are within the spirit of the season. Greetings and salutations from Australia. My recall of Bahasa is limited, as mentioned above. Old age and dementia is my excuse. Translation please. Frosty was near Penang et al. Salamat datang dan trima kasi (I think?)
