    Hello...

I just ventured out onto the streets - to have a smoke and to look at all the baby pushers and other who dress like they just came back from a camping trip sponsored by the Federal Governments 'Northern Defence' branch...

Laid out 20 bucks for a YD - Yacht Design - magazine and a little less for some 'juice'...

I ask - 'why do we do it' - why do we wake up and pound back a gallon of coffee and draw boats - why do we get into the car on Monday morning and go to the yard and build the damned things - it is crazy - we are all nuts...

    I need answers...:)

Perhaps it is just another fixation - some kids want to dance - some kids want to fly - some kids see purity in mathematics - some kids like to cook...

Either way - I suppose it is just that - a fixation - as is anything – everyone applies himself or herself to something – if they at least have an inclination to do so…

I love boats and I hate boats – they pay my mortgage – they keep my mind sharp – they depress me and they inspire me – but I cannot separate myself from them…

    At times – I really wish that I could…

Oh well – that is that – regardless of what any of you may think of me – I would like to thank all of you for your various levels of input – I would like to thank who ever is managing this site - for allowing the general forum…

I remember being a scared kid with only a table onto to which I could pencil a few ideas – and I had no one to talk to - or to bounce ideas off of – man - how things have changed – and in that respect – for the better…

Just now – I am going to figure out how to upload some video to ‘You Tube’ – I feel like a dinosaur trying to feed again…

Image below is (C) 2000 by Craig Orsini - I just played with it a bit in Photoshop ...

Bought it at the magazine store because it expressed the 'moment'...

Dennis Leary is one of my own personal heroes - and that is that...

    Hope you are all well...

Yeah, I've been flat out too. Don't know why I do it some days.

    Thanks...

    Hello...

Not so much 'flat out' - but just wandering around looking at people with a butt in my mouth - they - the healthy elite that assume priority over an oncoming bus - so surely so that they must die before me - and me just wondering how many of them would understand - just a little - if I happened to babble a little bit about building boats...

    I would be shunned - I think...

How silly it is that our own greatest pleasures - that which we have created - are still shunned by puritanical muddle heads - a banished book in a full bath with a Cuban cigar or cigarette - oh hate me and my kind...:)

    Thanks again...

    I am VERY tired...

The mouse picture to me suggests stupidity. Why face a problem head on when there is access all the way around.

If hes smart enough to know there is danger then he should be smart enough to get around it.

Sigh-- throw the helmet at the cheese, release the trap , sit eat enjoy.

Is this one of those tests for high/ low management potential?

    Am I missing something here?

    Good afternoon,
'tis my day for quiet reasoning & calming down? I have been fortunate enough to be almost always, (will better than half), to do what I found pleasing at the time.

I too see the self-important road crossers wrapped up in themselves & then realise that they are probably what has been fashionably called "tree-changers", or, "sea-changers" (heading for a quieter life in the bush retreat or beside the seaside).

People with an association to the sea - on boats have the better option.

Might I be so bold as to suggest a sea-change. Build or otherwise acquire a boat just big enough to cruise the oceans & take off on a well earned sabatical (or for retirement with occasional jobs to meet minimalist needs - hence the "just big enough".

An old fart like me (otherwise known as a grumpy old Bas***d) has a thing about fuel efficient cats that don't meow or loose fur as there era not enough recipies for that direction.

But I am starting to drivel & that is not my kingdome nor thread is it Frosty ol C dog?

Masalai You cant help Sean. He posts here occasionaly. He is in a mega rut.
Seemingly a healthy individual nagged by an English wife hoping for a divorce he sums up his life around him.
He has a good job for which he is well appreciated. Yets stands in the street admiring others lifes,--any ones life as long as its not his.

An extremely gifted writer yets his words are shrouded in misery. Sometime prefering to express himself with poetry or with words of a song.

Damn if I could write half as good!!!!

Sean don't kid your self those people you see that you think would shun you are ignorant and not worth your time of day anyway! your not alone buy any stretch of the imagination. i know people that seem to have it all! but do they NO they have bigger head aches than me. Ill trade ya! Ive been drawing boats for years and the only people that have seen them is the guys I work with at the Pulp Mill up hear in PG you know were that is? i was born and raised in Nanaimo across the strait from you and was inspired from an early age living on the ocean till I was 22. My dad had a waterfront house on protection island and we made hovercraft from inertubes and lawnmore engines to 14ft speed boats with the old Scott motors wich my dad still has a collection off for some unknown reason. To creat some thing from a drawing takes a skill not many people have!! The aspects that you need to know like hydomatics and functionality thats practible for a craft so it works for the intended purpose is an art that you posses! Be proud off that i know i admire what you are doing because thats what i have always wanted to do!! I own an Allison grand Sport because if i was going to build boats it was the closest to my own designs. Now how to convert a 100mph out board into a 100 mph inboard with out adding any more wieght than the current setup?Hmmmm I know but its top secret:D if your ever in Prince george I would love to talk about boat designing with you big time!!:) I had hundreds of ideas on paper threw most of them out but kept the real nice ones and so far ive seen some of my ideas from 20 years ago come to light with some manufacturers. then I say to my wife see I told you it was a great idea!:( Chine up and make your dream boat that your going to use for retirment. Thats always a good motivater. Maybe you could make a few for others so ya get the bugs out before ya design yours! Ha ha. James Watson

    Bah...

    Hello...

Damn - now I must go a listen to some 'The Smiths' - tunes or to some - 'Leonard Cohen' - and feel like the whole world should focus on me...:)

Frosty - you are a funny man - keep in touch...

I am fine - hope you are well to...

Thanks - 'Whipper' - you have my Email and Gallery here - bunch of 'mental meandering' - some photos and a lot of my own work - post your own - scanners are cheap...

As for 'English wives' - Frosty - well - they are of very good stock - they stayed off two German goes at the continent and their island - and inherently they are tough, self righteous, and demanding buggers - and as such - they are a Royal pain in the *** - and she is - Oh God - how she is...

BUT that said - I would NOT trade my brunnete Britain in - nay - NOT for the world around me...

I dont know why you do it. But here is why I hope you do it.

I hope you get up every morning, pound back coffee and design the best damn boat for its purpose in the world, because you know that Every morning I get up and enrust my life and the life of my crew, the health of the company I work for, and the Ocean enviorment, In your ships design.
