    Note: This thread is a branch from the ongoing "Discussion- Multipurpose Onboard Computers"

    CHALLENGES:
    • UNDERSTAND HF RADIO OPTIONS: Email, WeatherFAX etc.
    • UNDERSTAND SATELLITE OPTIONS: Email, Telephone, Costs etc.

    IDEAS AND DIRECTIONS:

    • HF-SSB RADIO/TNC: Long Distance short-wave (3-30 Mhz) communications. A Terminal Node Controller is a type of Modem and Packet Radio Protocol Controller used to send and receive messages, WeatherFAX, etc.

    Hands-On experience with HF Radio for Email, WeatherFAX etc??

    If you've actually used this type of onboard system, can you please drop in and tell us more about your experiences, and the gear you used?

    I understand this basically, from Ham and Broadcast background, but I've never DONE it!
