    hi guys,

for a hiport on a 60m yacht... do you think it would be best placed above all decks or at deck level?

i mean, if the helicopter was stationed at the top deck, and there was adverse weather, would the oscillations create problems?

    yacht picasso,

yes, the higher the helicopter deck, the more trouble is there in severe weather. I assume you think of a helicopter landing deck (as opposed to a platform that is solely used for winching operations), right?

But there are other factors to consider: What about superstructure and masts from which the heli must stay clear, which may be difficult if the platform is low down at main deck level? If the helicopter deck is raised: Is there still sufficient stability with the additional weight of the airplane up there? Also mind the additional weight (and it's effect on stability) of the structure of such a platform itself with large(r) stanchions, girders, stiffeners etc. to withstand the loads from the helicopter.

    helicopter deck

    dear friend

first you must think the helicopter dimension, i mean the rotor diameter, and the best solution is to put the helicopter at the stern and not at the midship. I have made much studies of this and you must think the position of fuel tank for the helicopter. All the oscillation mst not exceed the 500mm.

If you have rail you must take it out
And then you must chek the strength of the helicopter deck in different position.

For more information see the Germanischer LLoyds regulation

    Best Regards
