    Not sure what you're referring to - but whatever it is, I can tell you that it works....Grundig gave the more fancied runners - Zana and eventual winner (about 3am this morning) Skandia - a real run for the money in this years Sydney-Hobart

    Yep, I noticed that as well. Very odd.
    If its a rudder I guess it must be in a rotating cartridge - a variation on the kick-up rudders on some of the Open 60s.

    ....goooogle....

    Here you go... they are retractable rudders. He also put a hydrfoil on the bow...(he took this off before the S-H)

    oh - that.....being a powerboat guy, I assumed that all twin-ruddered yachts would have the windward one retractable...:rolleyes:

    perhaps just as well - Nokia's cunard snapped off - and the hull sustained a fair bit of structural damage too....makes you wonder given that they didn't get much over 35 knots of wind this year....

    Grundig is making her way up the Derwent to take 3rd place as I type this.
