    Re Garys Post

As far as powercruisers go, that's a mighty fine one. Even I would not be ashamed powering along in that babe!
Great styling if I may say so...

But for sailboats I do like them sporty and modern, unless it's a true bluewater cruiser... then it could be a bit more traditional looking...

    Yep

I like our freinds boat "Annas" in the gallery. The plumb stem is very cool on boats of that vintage. I wish I knew more about steam power a machinist and a foundry could make a mean inline 4 for a boat like that!

Yeah, but the cockpit is uninhabitable until those buggers warm up!:) Do love that sound, though.

I forgot to post my dream boat, she is a strong ocean goin vessel with lots of room, a real head turner, at 31,552 tonnes:eek: she is a smooth ride, at 229 meters in lenth she command's immediat respect from other boats:cool: , the threat of piracy is not even a concern with her..as no one in there right (or wrong ) mind will attempt this suicidal act upon seeing her:D , her drawbacks are that she is heavey on the fuel and most marinas wont let you in:p , I have contacted many custom yachy builders ..but they all keep hanging up on me:D .
(<<<walks away from desk wondering how many friends will be needed to help build this dream ship)

Geez, Gary, now you've gone and made me blush again! (what's taking so long with the PowerBall thing, anyway?)

oddball - I love the styling, but is it really practical in these days of fuel economy? (I know, money no object - but Arabia will dry up one day)
The burglar deterrent system may be a little OTT ;-)

My personal dreamboat is probably the same as Gary's - once he pays for the design I'll be able to afford to build my own. I _did_ mention that the design fee was a whole boat, didn't I? You PowerBall winners can afford that kind of thing...

sail..I think you might be right my "burglar deterrent system" might not only scare the ...bad people it might just scare everyone:D , not to mention the USCG might have a problem with a "pocket battleship...yacht", but all kidding aside those ships were the last of the...."ships of the line" no fancy electronics no fancy wepons...just brute force..now you have ships 1/4 there size with 3 times the fire power..but the new ships just dont have the same presence that they did...almost a work of art in there own right, the sad part is that when she was sunk she took over 1300 sailers with her..only 36 survived :( ......

oddball - you're right, those things were beautiful. I have an old 1943 Jane's Fighting Ships that I love to poke through.
About 16 years ago, I was looking out of the office window, and saw a grey bow coming past Fort Adams. I thought "Hmmm... Navy boys coming in" and then noticed a mast and upperworks _above_ Ft Adams, but a loooong way back. Thought "Hmmm... two sets of Navy boys."
The bow got longer and longer, and finally the upperworks caught up with it. To my shame I can't remember which one she was, but she of the Iowa/Missouri class. Amazing sight sailing past Newport.
