I would appreciate any information or experience anybody has had with noise levels in jet boats, preferably over 30' or so. I ahve heard they are noisy but I know very little about how they ride, accelerate, and especially how noisy. Cheers.

    Hi RDB,

there are all sorts of " FACTS " quoted as gospel - that on examination -
prove to be exagerations, if not outright lies.

Way back - there were drag boats - using jets, with blown 445 Buick V8
engines. - Running with open pipes.
These dragsters had so much " get up and go " - that they were handicapped when racing, one to one, with propeller driven craft.

Yes, you if you take the mufflers off a boat engine it will be NOISY.
Wether it's running with Jets OR Props.

There are plenty of Million $ Yachts and Fast Ferries using Jet Drives.
    Some are very quiet.

    - One of the best companies to give you practical information about real
world jet boats; is HAMILTON JET, in New Zealand.
They have been doing it........ since, forever.

Nothing like the sound of a big chevy with a high lift cam breathing through 4 inch open headers "bark'n" across the water at 130 db's squirting a 200ft long roost smoken a weed whacker...Well a 14/71 blower whining on that big chevy does sound better.. Some how I have a feeling thats not what you are talking about tho?????
