Yes I think billybob is right, There are alot of online sites that have brakedowns and parts list that help very much, I will look through my books and try to find some more info for you, ok, and if I find anything I will email it to you, Also , I get some books from SELOC Their site is www.selocmarine.com You might want to see if they got a book? I was looking it over again last night, if you look down the side of the boat you can see a bulge about three feet long just above the water line and it is even with the gas tank compartment. This is on both sides of the boat. I don't really want to part it out but the damage looks pretty bad. The way the boat is built I don't think it came from the factory this way. I'll send some pictures. Maybe tonight if I have time I will take pictures of the side of the boat or a short video so you can see what I am talking about.

 

I am in the process of purchasing a 2000 imp 21 foot cuddy cabin boat and trailer. This boat has never been put in the water. The boat got tied up in an estate and the paperwork was just released a couple of months ago. The hour meter has only one hour on it. The boat is in great shape except for the cushions which have been misplaced. What I would like to find is where to look for the cushions that go in the cabin or should I just have them custom made

 

Hello All!
I have had to return to the forum with a question about my 1971 IMP.
I always thought that I had a Aztec, yet I just found a handwritten note in the glovebox that says Santee. The boat is 18' and has a 6 cyl Chevy 250.
My question is this- I just tuned the engine, took the boat to the lake and suddenly it will not go into forward gear. It will shift between neutral and reverse.
I did run it on the earmuffs for about 20 minutes while setting the timing. There was a slight grinding noise while running and the boat was in neutral.

If it will help, here are my serial #s. The engine is 2835939 and the outdrive is 2826422.The boat serial # is KJ1801064.
It seems as though Mercruiser was not the drivetrain of choice, yet this is the original setup according to the owners manual that I found in the boat. The engine has about 600 hours on it.

What can I do about my shift problem? I did pull the cover off and the linkage is moving. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Jason

Sounds like a nice boat,and you got real lucky finding a boat with no hours,
Good Job! Well I dont know exactly what your interier looks like, but I think your right you might have to have them made

It sounds to me that eather your shift cable is out of adjustment, OR Your ingagement dogs are worn out! You might want to inspect them just to see what they look like, and then properly adjust your cable so it shifts properly, and it shifts good in both gears and neutral, OK Good luck, scott

 

Hey Scott!

I got home in time tonight to jump in the boat and take a look.
My cables are an over/under arrangement. This works off of a pivot.
I adjusted the top cable several times before the drive would engage in forward. I then brought the bottom in a little and that also helped.
The result is that I now have all three gears again BUT I cant get neutral exactly in the middle like it was on the shifter. I have to slightly go into reverse then back up to neutral.

Maybe I can get a shop to look at it but for now at least I can pull tubes and skis again! Thank! Jason

HI how you doing? good im glad you was able to adjust it, but it sounds to me that you might have over adjusted just alittle? Try adjusting again im sure you'll get it. Scott

 

I am going to pick it up today. I took it for a test ride and it ran really well. I will post pics soon!

Another new guy here. I have a 1989 IMP 254X that I bought in 1998 without any engines. It had twin 350 chevs and I put in two new 305 Mercruisers. It has sat for 10 years now as I couldn't find any info or schematics for it. I bought it from the original owner with trailer and would like to get some info so I can finish restoring it. Any and all help would definately be appreciated.

Ive went on a vacation and went up to wyoming and closed my bussiness down and moved everything down here to az. So Ive been very busy lately, So how did your cable adjustment come out?
