Good point. As far as the feeling of speed goes, few people can actually feel the difference between 40 and 60 knots on a boat, let alone a 5 mph gain on a boat that's already doing over sixty. Unless you're completely obsessed with the decimal point in the top-end number, you probably won't notice top-end gains much on a boat that's already fast.
Where an improvement in power will make itself felt is if that power comes low in the RPM range. Better torque and power at low speed will make the boat feel a lot faster- it'll accelerate harder, climb to plane more quickly, etc.

BBC is so easy to mod. I know for a fact, that porting the exhaust side of the heads - pocket porting too, will give you an extra 45 HP. I've seen this from one of the worst smog heads on a flow bench. Roller rockers and a roller cam will net another 100 HP.

Ok and that will give him what? 5-6 MPH more.

I dont mean to be neg here .

Personally 145 HP from those mods I am doubtfull of.

Buy a boat that was 'meant' to go faster.

keep the boat as light as possible and make absalutely sure you are running the best propeller.

You could quite easily be loosing 5-6MPH with a bad choice of prop.

Who knows how much faster it will go. And about the mods, bro i've built more high performance engines than i care to remember. We're talking about a BBC here, not a SBC. A simple cam change on a BBC is worth 100HP easy. If you're having trouble with finding out what cam you need, just call compcam, they'll help you out.

I did see a report on this heads in Hod Rod magazine years ago. A good and fuel economical way to improve power, but the price is way to high for my taste. I think that the hod rod magazine reported a gain abow 100hp for a sb pontiac using the stock cam.

I gues 140-150 hp only by porting and a new cam on a bb would not be imposible, but I doubt the low end power and torque would be anny high.
