If you're worried about strength calculations look for The Elements of Boat Strength: For Builders, Designers, and Owners by David Gerr. (by the way he runs the Westlawn course).

Principles of Yacht Design, and SKene's Elements of Yacht Design are the bibles on this subject and I highly recommend them. You can get all of these directly from Amazon, orr you can get them from Amazon through the book store on my web site.

SNAME does have papers available on small craft design. They have a separate Small Craft Committtee. Look through the membership on this forum for Chris Barry. He is on the SNAME small craft committee, a naval architect, and has done numerous yacht designs over the years.

SNAME has a small craft CD of over a hundred papers., though bear in mind small craft includes such things as tugs and other non-yachts.

The small craft committee is also looking into publishing a series of short focused bulletins on specific topics, emphasizing "how to do it" for some specific technique (in the hopes of not overloading our volunteer authors). The bulletin would comprise a discussion of th technique, worked examples, possibly spreadsheets or similar aids, and an appendix with the original papers covering the material.

Topics have to be narrow enough to be readily doable, examples might be predicting planing resistance, for example, or 33 CFR 183 compliance.

I would appreciate suggestions as to what people think might be useful.
