    How many people are interested from VPP (Velocity Prediction Program) for sail yahts?

    What have you got?

    Is the resistance method correllated to tank results?
    How do you work out the Sail Forces?
    Can you give predictions of Heel, Yaw & Pitch?
    Do you have plans to link it with other software?
    Can you (or will you be able to) use it with tank data?

    If you can answer all those questions, then you've got something similar to the VPP I wrote myself. I wouldn't call it Commercial code yet, though. Not by a long shot.

    The program use Morino panel method to calculate the forces of that act on hull, sails and rudder. The implementation of mathematical model of a sail yaht is at high level. It can predict Heel, Yaw , Pitch, velosity and time that take to reach a point at given wind speed and directions. It can use tank data. The base advantage is that it can work in dynamic rate. And my long goal is to use it in real time and connect it with GPS systems

    Hello dimitarp,

    Sounds like some interesting work.
    What code is it? There are only a few potential flow codes that have been validated.
    How fast is it? How long does it take to compute flow around a heeled/yawed monohull free to trim+sink?

    A complete numerical VPP is an interesting subject, but from a research point of view. It's not there yet for the yacht designer. I dont expect accuracy to be very good. But it'll come one day.
