put a 2006 peninsular 310 in over the winter. replaced an old marine power 230. it had a vee drive with a 1.57:1 reduction gear and 3 blade 18x19 prop.
    currently have a 2.00:1 ratio with a nibral 18x26.
cruise data at 10 gph is 2950 rpm at 15kts (calm water). wot(2600rpm) is about 22kts and about 15gph.
    ...
i'm wondering if going to a 19" prop would do anything for my numbers.
    thanks for the help.
fwiw, i know the peninsulars suffer from 'bad press', but most bad stuff i read has been pretty non specific. this one fit in pretty well with no major issues.
put about 50 hours on it so far. runs fine. no smoke/soot.
i did have to cut a little glass.

just ran across this. I can't help you but I'm looking at the Albin 28 used.

Why didn't you put in a Yanmar? how much $ diferance?

    Thanks

paid $18k for the peninsular with a new transmission

a yanmar would have been closer to $30k just for the engine. might get an average of 2.o nmi/gal with the yanmar. i averaged 1.6 nmi/gal with the peninsular. last year i put 85 hours on it and consumed 325 gallons. ran fine no smoke, always starts when warm. most parts (impellor, fuel/water filters, etc.) are accessible. we'll see about resale in a few years, i guess.

Thanks. I didn't know the repower would be that high for the Yanmar:(

I better look for one with low hours on it than.

The 6 cyl Yannmar is from auto service and reworked on marinization.

Hit the junk yards for a Toyota Land Cruiser (which I believe was the Source) and marinise that and save $28.000.
