I wondering if two zenoahs would do it, maybe you dont need 15hp. You can get bigger zenoahs or modified. Also the swashdrive has a forum that is interesting. I'll try to do some research though.

Thanks again Quicksilver. Are the zenoahs electric start though? What kind of cost am I looking at? I think it's going to end up being about twice the cost of an outboard.... lol Price you pay I guess for being different, huh? :) Any info will be greatly appreciated.... I think the forum for swashdrives has been shut down though.

huh, it does appear to be gone, man I was there just a few days ago. You know what I'll post the question at the forums I post at. rcuniverse.com I'll put the link up.

That jet boat is neat, I guess what they did was put a jet ski pump with a small motor. straight forward, except the motor. I forget that pumps are direct drive so it's easy to spin the impeller, so a low hp on big drive is ok.

theyre saying it wont do it, best answer I could get is to use a pump out of a child size jet-ski

"Quick the childs Jet-Ski is a JS300, it's 289cc single,it is kinda weak in the hp dept tho. I've ridden manyof them ,(former Region 5 IJSBA Pro-Jet-Ski racer)and in stock trim they are hard-pressed to haul 200 lbs. on a good day, with the small foot-print stock hull. Put it on anything even a little bit heavier or wider for that matter it will be a pig!!! Get a 440 twin, you will be much happier,I promise. Parts are way more available and cheap for the 440/550 motors. The 300 was a rocket with a 40 lb kid on it but anything much more than 130 to 150 #'s total weight, its a dog. I know ya'll dont want too fast, but you can limit the throttle cable via the throttle-stop on the stock hand-controls."

Why dont you just use a centrifugal pump then. Have look at the hardware or what ever shop sells that stuff in the US. Find one that is recomended for a 10Hp motor.

As far as I am aware the jet of water does not need to be at water level it is Newtons law that works here. To every action there is an equal and opposite action ( I think thats how it goes)

Your really going out an a limb on your own here though.

Still convinced it would be cheaper and easier to buy a second hand jet ski or ski doo.

Theres 4 in the car park here I think they are trying to get them took away. One ski doo has 2 little tiny jets in it,-- but probably Knackered. They are really in a bad way. Im trying to convince them to give me one and I shall convert it to an outboard---watch this space!!

    Jack,

Yes, it may be cheaper and quicker to 'just buy something', but I think you're missing the point completely. I want to make something for my daughter that she will enjoy and cherish........ and know that it was made with her father's loving hands.....

Yes I understand that, but it might be coming clear that what you want buy is not available.

I have also skimmed but apparantly not skimmed deep enough to say that unless you have done this before ,ie build speed boats you could build some thing unreliable and therefore dangerous and--- if it works well in a way that your daughter will enjoy driving it,--- well that would be quite a result.

To build a boat and marinise an engine -bolt it up to a jet and fit it into a boat so that it drives so perfectly and reliable enough for a child to drive is ---- well you know.

Im not trying to be negative but to save you a lot no--a lot of waisted time. if it turns out crap it will be discarded to the garden after 3 months. It will also be worthless.

A second hand Seado guted out to the opoint of no recognition of it being such then built up by you own hands would get you where you want to go. Might even be worth some thing at the end.
