is there any free software for propeller design?I mean that you give the parameter of the propeller, the software can give you a 3d propeller model, just like PropCAD, but PropCAD is so expensive.thanks in advance.

Without knowing what you want to do, maby you could start with this. http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/javaprop.htm
(it's Java, click on "The Applet" in the left frame) Its not really what your looking for, but it is free, and it is propellers.
If your really into designing props, IMO PropCad is the way to go.

branet: I think "expensive" is a relative things. I am a PHD candidate in China, my salary is RMB300, that is less than $40, :(. If I were a PHD students in USA or Europe, I think i could afford it for $800.
Figgy: The hyperlinks you give is not available for me in China?

Surely a PHD student could write a bit of code to generate a propeller, given

    Diameter
    BAR
    Pitch
    twist rate
    rake
    sweep
    and perhaps a few others...

Now the tricky bit is to analyse the propeller, and if you really want to improve on what's there already, optimise it.

    use anonymouse clients

I am currently working in China and have this problem often.

use either proxify.com or anonymouse.org to get around the great (fire)wall of China.

Just to let you know that, if you use a program called designfoil (http://www.dreesecode.com/) then you can create the geometry sections of the propeller blade. This program is used for airfoils but they are the same as marine propeller blade sections and then you can import them into solidworks which you can create you propeller in by lofting it.
It's only a five trail version of the program but there are ways round this by deleting one of the file it creates when you open the program

If you give me size of propeller that you calculated.
I will draw your model as attached file.
    Size of Propeller
