 Hi all, on a Mercury Thunderbolt ignition 500 50hp with blue colour strip, where's the engine/serial number? There would seem to be various markings, I'm not sure which is which and I need the number to insure the boat. Could anyone also help me with the propeller part number and a good alround pitch number. Thanks.

The number is on a sticker on the side of the motor bracket. There should be a second number stamped on one of the freeze plugs. The propeller depends on the application. There are hundreds of options.

:) Cheers Gonzo I've now found the engine number stamped,as you said, on the side of the engine. The insuranse company now put the year of the engine at exactly 1985 and not the early 1970s as I thought, good news eh! All I have to do now is try to find the hull number of the boat. It's definatly a Fletcher hull but the transom has been strenthend and had aliminum plating put over it hense covering any ID plate, I've also looked for any outer hull numbers but can see no sign of anything so, later today, I'll have alook under the foredeck to see what might be there.
    Thanks anyway,
    Ged
