Having trouble tracing our newbought 1973 Challenger 40,Was this originally a Columbia Challenger? Any old design and history bits would sure be helpful. The original Company owner,Howard Stern recently passed away I believe. Great boat but years of neglect. Thanks for any history help!

Challenger Yachts was a company located on Dock St. on Terminal Island in Los Angeles harbor (now the site of a container terminal). Howard Stern was the owner. They built a 32, 35 40 and 50.

Definetely a seat of the pants operation, even in those days.

The Columbia Challenger was a 24 foot long boat.

Columbia built a 40 that was designed by Charley Morgan in the mid sixties.
