Marshmat! You are very right about your point! Cheap fibre can be really bad! Saw a boat today badly damged by the UV! I've got a friend who works on a boat yard at the Isle of Wight he was telling me that although dark colours looks very nice people don't buy a second hand dark coloured boat as much as the ones who buy the white! That is wired! :!:

I like the idea of a lighter blue. My own boat is a red color and Yes it marks dreadfully. I stayed with Red as it was it's previous color and does look good.
I think shape dictates a lot how a color will look. I'd be game to try yellow on a shape the suited. (In a boat I mean, don't be clever. hahahah)

The most wired coloured boat I've seen was a samll dinghy coloured with rainbow colours! I think it tells how happy the owner is! :D

I painted my boat a couple of years ago in black LP. looks great virtually no difference in interior temprature.

It was tough to decide between red and black as I think they both look great.

    Prep work, very important!

I think my next dink will be blue.

I think the temperature issue is not so much inside the boat as in the structure itself. I know with foam/fibreglass aircraft structures we always stayed with white to avoid temperature effecting it's integrity.

Now that you mention it I remember a friend of mine telling me about this occuring in foam cores. Expansion of individual cells within the foam due to the heat. I would think that this expansion would be minimal and the laminate could tolerate it, but probably depends on the type of laminate.

Plus a boat hull would not get a direct sun beating down on it as say the topside of an aircrafts wing does.

Seems a good reason for yellow! if the buggers don't want to run into you it's the best reason in the world! Plus keeps the heat out of the equation - only trouble is it attracts the flies when your painting it - had me this boat painted in summer, had bumps all over it (plenty of spare protein I guess)

Yellow would look nice on anyother thing but not a bot! Maybe a kayak would like nice in yellow but not a sail boat! I think it's matter of personal choise at the end of the day but i still don't want to have my boat in that colour!
