Sorry, that's beyond me. But I'm sure somebody else on this forum knows!

Hopefully they will give me a view - ideally on the boat, use, and engine options. But I think diesel will be my preferred option if the performance is adequate.

I heard there was a lot of "buzz" over the new Monterey Hybrids for 2005 at the Florida dealer show. Does anyone have any info or reports on the new hybids in the 22 to 24 foot range ?

I HAVE PURCHASED THE 2004 265 CRUISER AND HAVE 50 HOURS ON IT. WE HAVE FOUND THE BOAT TO BE VERY RELIABLE AND ONE HECK OF A VALUE. IT IS AMAZING THE AMENITIES AND ROOM THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO GIVE YOU DOWN BELOW. WE PERCEIVE THE QUALITY TO BE AS GOOD AS ANYTHING ON THE MARKET. ONLY A COUPLE MONOR ISSUES WITH FUEL GUAGE ACCURACY AND POWER TRIM GUAGE. NOT MONTEREYS FAULT THE GUAGES ARE FARIAH!
WE ARE POWRED BY THE 5.0 GXI VOLVO PENTA AND ARE ABLE TO CRUISE AROUND 30 MPH WITH THE BOAT TRIMMED PROPERLY AT AROUND 38RPM. WE ALREADY HAVE ARE EYES ON THE 35 FOOTER AND HOPE TO SEE IT AT THE ANNAPOLIS BOAT SHOW

    Same Opinion

I am glad to hear your opinion, as mine is same.

My wife and I too have spent many hours sitting and negoitiating boat deals. Today we boat a 190 LS 2004. We bought it because when both of us sat in it, it was the first one that actually felt right. I trust you know the feeling. We were back-n-forth between Four Winns & Sea Ray. Didn't know much about Monterey until today --- and the past 8 hours at a dealer. We negotiated 4 hours and came to what I think is a good deal. I hope we made the right choice. We pick the boat up in 4 days.

I read the e-mail down playing the warranty story, and must admit thoughts ran through my head to back out.

    Regards,

    Happy New Monterey Owner :?:

    Monterey Montura 190LS f

Hi- my neighbor offered to sell me his Monterey Montura 190LS for 19,500. It seems to be in good condition but I know nothing about this boat generally and wonder if the price and boat are good buy. Any advice is appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Monterey vs Sea Ray

Hi folks; and back to Sam1 original Question. :p He was comparing generally the 23 -24 ft range Sea Ray and Monterey boats open bow models. I want to say they are both great boats. I owned a 99 230 sea ray select bow rider a few years ago. I bought it used (2 yrs old) and it was a really fun boat. rode great, solid and nice eye appeal. Now about a month ago I purchased a new 06 Monterey 234 fs bow rider and it is equally as nice. It has new creature comforts that the new bow riders have like molded extended swim platform and highly neccessary options like stainless cup holders ... hahaha.. anyway I think both manufactures have a sharp eye on the boat market and I would remommend either. ...ps the monterey was a bit more affordable and the wife loved it in the "yellow hull" and black bimini top configuration....; what to hell .. that was a good enough reason to buy for me... happy boating and I enjoy reading your posts.:) :)

    2006 Monterey 248LS Bow Rider

I just bought a 2006 Monterey 248LS Bow Rider...Great Boat... This is My first Boat.. Pretty big for first boat (24 feet but 26.7 Over all) I was also going back and forth... The reason I chose the Monterey because of the room.. The Monterey is a true 24' 6 foot boat with the swim platform makes it 26' 7. Also it does not have the back sun pad that actually makes the boat feel a lot smaller... I just went out labor day weekend with 11 people on the boat and was very comfortable and still had room. with 300 HP we hit speeds of 47MPH with over a half a tank of gas... I also found this boat was a lot less. I paid 46K out the door with a Shorland trailer. Great Deal I hear.

I was reading in the earlier posts on this thread about the guy who had problems with a monterey and the most recent posts which seem to be from people with opposite experiences. I have to tell you, my experience with Montery has been a nightmare similar to the earlier guys. I bought a 2005 180FS, paid cash and have regretted it ever since. For the first year, the drive had constant problems. It has the Volvo and it kept popping the circuit breaker or the fuse to the hydraulics. On other occasions, the drive would just come up, uncommanded and the pump would run until the breaker or fuse popped. And let me tell you, that fuse in the back is nearly impossible to get to. After nearly a year of having it in the shop constantly Volvo finally got involved and they claimed to have replaced the entire pump. As if that wasn't bad enough, the boat has had and continues to have constant electrical problems. If it isn't one thing, its another, everything from lights not working to radio problems. The dealer wasn't much help and constantly was difficult to deal with. Lets just say I'm tired of dealing with a guy who has mechanics who don't know what they are doing and wants to, and I mean genuinely seems to want to argue with you over it! When I tried to get Monterey involved they were of no help. Overall the worst buying experience of my 48 years on this earth. As a first time boat buyer it will be my last boat also. And as for those people who think I'm from some other boat manufacturer, I'm flyerstevie@yahoo.com I work in aviation and have no ties to boating other than I bought the biggest floating anchor - a monterey.

I have a 1999 Monterey 242 that I bought new and have always kept it covered when not in use. Everything about the boat looks almost new and have never had any problems with it. Another guy in my area bought the exact same boat the year before I did and he sent it back to the factory for gelcoat reasons above the rub rail. This guy is very negative about everything and when he showed me the gelcoat problem as he saw it, he must have a vision problem as well. It looked perfect to me but the dealer had the boat transported back to the factory and when it came back the guy was satisfied. The company never questioned the return and I truly believe it was because the dealer took the time to contact the company. Same guy thought he had a blimish on his engine door and they replaced it, no questions asked and once again I did not think it was a blimish but the non-skid surface of the floor/door. I think the "Guest" had a dealer that did not agree with the concern and did not want to fool with it.
By the way, my boat is for sell - getting a new CC fishing boat. Let me know if interested.

I'm sure you had the required # of PFDs for everyone onboard....;)

Not too much info on Monterey other than on this forum. We're looking into the relatively new 260SCR and we're wondering what we can expect from the newer Montereys.
