I have a 1989 Sea Ray 220DA with a 5.7 Mercruiser 260hp V8 engine that I purchased in March. I was told that it had set for two years prior to me buying it. The dealer filled it up with gas and delivered it to my marina. I have taken it out four times without any problems. Recently, when I return to the ramp to load it on my trailer it stalls as I shift from forward to neutral. I am always able to restart it immediately. Yesterday it stalled twice while I was manuvering it into position. What should I be looking at to correct this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Check the shift interrupt switch for proper operation and adjustment. Also, the intermediate shift cable should move freely.
Consult the manual for procedures and photos.

I have not had it fixed yet. My conversations with the mechanics at the boat dealership confirm what I was told. They have indicated that replacing the switch and adjusting the cable is something that I can do. It is an easy fix. The switch costs $90.00. If it requires replacing the cable, the outdrive will need to be removed. This will involve hiring a mechanic and driving up the cost. I'm hoping that replacing the switch and checking the cable adjustment is all that it requires. Good luck.

    thanks for reply

I had mine repaired it was the float switch that was stuck and when I put it in neutral it would stall. A real easy and cheap fix. Goodluck to you
