I know the twin motors are the old 888's ford 302's and the stern drive lower units are 1.5 gear ratio but I am having trouble locating the right ones. I need to replace both motors and both lowers. Does anyone know were I can get them for a reasonable price? The previous owner decided to slap in bigger motors and lower units. I test fitted a mock up motor and it alligns perfectly. The previous owner told me he just made custom motormounts to get the motors to fit and rebuilt the lowers to handle the power. Just trying to get this one restored. Also need interior parts and panneling.

    Lucian,

According to my borchure they could be equiped with two 165-300 hp engines. My IMP has a 235hp which is a Ford 351 V8. I would go with Mike and that it is a 255. It makes sense because the X245 is 24.5 feet long. If yours is 25.5 feet I would suspect it as a 255.

    Hi

I am the original owner of 1989 IMP 235 Europa. I run it on Lake Michigan out of Chicago and Lake Geneva in Wisconsin. Great running boat and solid as a rock. I am running the original 350 Mag engine with Mercury Alpha Drive. Outdrive been rebuild twice due to hitting underwater objects. Have all original literature that was published at the time.

    Starting And Idling Problems

My 27' IMP has a 305 volvo Penta I/O, and I can only start my boat with a manual switch that bypasses the solenoid. I took the starter off and had it tested and they said both the starter and the solenoid are good. What could the problem be? Also, it idles at 1000 rpm. When I try to reduce the idle, it shuts off. Any ideas?

Hello everyone. I just joined and have a 1969 17' IMP NAVAJO V boat. I joined to find out if anyone knows where I can find a new winshield. The original one is plexiglass and is cracked and scratched. Thanks for the help.

I just had a p[rop strike an dI need a replacement...but I haven't taken the old one off. I wondered if anyone has ideas of the cheapest way to replace it, and what I should ask for? My boat is a 27.5 foot IMP with a 305 engine, and a 280 outdrive. I hope I said all of that correctly. I UNDErstand there are right turning and left turning props, as well as the pitch, and I don't know how to determine those factors. is there a recommended set of numbers I should look for?

Mike, you mention this filter and I was wondering if you could give me a little more detail on it. I had the boat out this weekend and it died again. I hate being towed in. This time though the fuel filter canister is almost dry. The gauge shows 3/4 full and I had just put 10 gallons in to add to the 15 I had put in last time it died. I can see where the gas line goes into the fiberglass wall at the front of the bilge but can't see into that area. The carpet is glued down in that area so this is going to be a real chore.

I was also wondering if it is possible to put an electric pump and bypass the pump on the engine. This would also allow me to pump the tank out at the end of the season.

    Any help would be great!!

    re electric pump

I would use a low pressure air source, and apply some back pressure to the tank, and blow out the screen. Then use an electric pump to pump out the tank.

Okay, I pulled the fuel filter at the engine and found more junk in the bottom of the canister. So I am confident there is more in the tank. I was able to contact the previous owner and he stated he had see the gas tank once before and it did have screws holding a cover over it. I made a small 2" cut in teh carpet and it was not glued down and there was a cover over where the tank was to suppose to be. I cut the carpet and sure enough there was a panel covering the tank. I think I will now try and locate a new tank and just replace this one. It looks in pretty bad shape. I tried to unscrew the line to the engine and it just won't budge.

I did try blowing some air back into the tank and it didn't help with getting gas to the filter.

    IMP Aztec Question

    Does a 20' Aztec have a cuddy cabin? It's a 1967. I'm looking at a boat on the internet and I can't tell. Thanks.

I have a 20' imp aztec. It has a small area where one person, lying down, can get out of the weather but not a cutty as such.

    Thanks

Thanks bill4tuna. That's kind of what I figured. How do you like your Aztec? The one I'm looking at is all geared up for salmon fishing and in very good shape. I was looking for a decent used fishing about and I stumbled on the Aztec. I've ruled it out several times but I can't stop thinking about it.
