    :D :D :D

better than bragging about the size of your toilet dump...

I mean we hear enough about Americans larger meal sizes... its all gotta go somewhere,

Seriously, one of our local radiostation, Triple J, did a special on this exact subject. A number of people had claimed that when in the USA it appeared that they did much bigger.... you get the picture.

Apparantly it may have been the bowl shape or something...

    too much information for me.:p

Could be!! If you eat Big Macks all day washed down with a gallon of Pepsi,-- well you will need a 3HP toilet.

    SeaSpark -

    Design circle, weight curve.

Imagine the implications for the boat design circle for a western client.

More food, bigger fridge, more batteries, bigger pump drive, even more batteries, need bigger boat to carry weight, more crew needed, circle closed.....

(Hans, please warn us if we are wandering too far of topic.)

Ok --- now clairfy toilet macerator,-- for instance, are you talking about some additional extra macerator to the electric toilet already instaled,or- the normal Jabsco toilet pump motor?

A macerator chops the turds and toilet paper so it can pass through a 3/4" (19mm) hose as required by law. Does this clarify "macerator".

    maybe just a little...:D

    thanks for the suggestion Jack,

Thats one hell of a macerator dude!! Of the industrial variety I assume?
I have a jabsco, but apparently mine isn't the turbo model.....I feel cheated!

But on the subject of weed wackers, you could plug up the end with some thickend epoxy and then re-drill a hole for the shaft, perhaps use some of the west System graphite powder around the innermost portion where the shaft will come in contact with it. I first saw these outboards in Thailand on the back of what was roughly a 40' water taxi. The engine was a 4 cylinder Nissan truck motor, transmission and all. Attached to the transmission was a 4" diameter galvanized steel pipe running about 15'-20' behind the boat that housed the shaft. The second I saw this I thought "WEED WACKER!!!!"

As far as the Sevylor sail, I had one of these things when I was 12 (popped it with fishing hooks!). I made a square sail out of three broomsticks, a bed sheet, and some string. but I didn't know about lateral resistence back then so it was a mess. But downwind it got the job done and I remember it was one hell of a row back up the harbor.

A Jabsco toilet pump motor is not the same as a V8 starter motor, and is nothing like. I have in my hand looking at the label as I write,-- Jabsco, 37010-0092, amps- 16, fused at- 25, USCG 183.410, Iso 8846 Marine, USA-Canada-UK-Germany -Japan. It is 3 inches in Dia and 3.5 inches long, and has an 8mm shaft.
You say this is a starter motor from an American V8 automobile?--- Bollocks!!!

It doesnt please me to expose some one as being wrong but whats hard to accept is that you say this is your full time job. Its mind boggling to think that you could have seen them both and thought them the same.

So back to the thread!!! Sorry Hansp.

This forum is not about exposing but an exchange of ideas. It would be arrogant for anyone to claim no to ever be wrong. However, a Jabsco macerator with a flow rate of 12 GPM (45 lt/min) is 12" overall, the motor itself is about 7.5"

I agree with you, however knocking some ones Idea down with incorrect information( I wont say ******** because I believe you genuinely dont know) does not make a envioronment for the exchange of Ideas.

I repeated myself over and over explaining the toilet pump. I gave you the opportunity for clarification of your ridiculous starter motor driven toilet pump.
Your reply was a vulgar explanation of a macerator, How can this type of behaviour encourage conversation.

I have apologised to Hansp and sincerely wish for the return of his conversation, however for this I am also partly to blame.

This made me think about the Human Powered Boat fraternity - after all a human been produces not a lot of horsepower, and so this has to be used as effeciently as possible.

I've seen HPB propdrives which use a twisted chain going to a sprocket mounted on one side of a sealed bike bottom bracket. On the other side is the prop. If you did somethign similar, you could

    1. Ditch the twisted chain, just have plain
    2. keep your motor out of the water

    Voila

Nice and easy to make (even easier than on that site).

I don't know however whether you'd be better with a high speed motor or whether you might also think of reproducing the "pedalling speed" with a low speed high torque motor - wiper motor - etc.
