I am in the process of renovating two masts [main and mizzen]. The glue lines failed making the whole job a little easier, used wedges and a fien recip saw to encourage them to 'open up'.The spreaders and mast hardware were all seated in white lead putty, [that was still malable! forty odd years down the line]. My question is what can I use in its place, there are many caulks avaliable.. any suggestions or comments most apprecaited, thanks
