There's the clue Stian. Out of work for six months - you're losing faith in your selfworth. (Christ I'm sounding like an agony aunt). But true. You've got skills - yet no-one seems interested, while you see others with far less know-how filling jobs that should be yours, and the frustration builds up.
OK Stian - if they don't want you. Stuff 'em. It's their loss. High time to move on.
You seem to be favouring Norway. Understandable - all the home comforts waiting there. But too easy to fall back into a rut.
South Korea....well it means carving out a new place. But that's what it's all about.

As for the girl...A big wrench after five years...but....

If you don't make the move you can bet that even though you are unaware of it...a little worm of regret will start nibbling at the back of your head...and you know who you'll blame? The girl of course. She'll be the excuse you use for your own lack of courage.

I get interest from a shipyard down south and from Nova Marine.

My comunication with them is like this:

    Do you speak good Chinese?

No, I only know how to ask for directions and order food.

    Can you write Chinese?

I learned about 100 caracters so I know some.

Sorry, but no good Chinese we not want you.

Ok, thank you. Hope to talk with you some other time.

    Shure, bye.

    Bye.

Look at it this way Stian...The Chinese economy is forecast to go bust in about two years time...

But take a tip. Use your 'spell check' when bunging off applications. And be prepared to bung off at least fifty before you get a satisfactory answer.:)

Taiwan is a strange country, they insist they are not a part of China, but protect there own Chinese traditions like gold.

It's actualy frustrating. I can live with that a guy that did bether than me in school or has more or bether experience than me, but that a guy that is less experienced is geting it only because I don't speak Chinese is demotivating.

I had a contract mailed to me from Ulstein wanting to sign me without even a meeting, but only after introducing myself on e-mail. Geting work in Norway now is easy. :) 5 years ago it was 50 aplications befour I got a job:mad:
