What the heck are these things?

    Does anyone out there know what these square metal plates are on this boats hull?Theres a total of 10 of them on each side that run along the entire length of the hull.Thanks guys

    A better picture of the whole boat might be more helpful. If they form two strake lines on both sides, and there is nothing backing them or tying them together and it is a workboat or log bronc, then the first guess would be mount plates for a D type fender system.

    I attached another pic below with yellow arrows pointing to the plates location.The boat is/was a fishing boat.There is nothing tying the plates together.There just bolted on there.
