SX-M 2.18, removed nuts to all 6 mounting bolts, disconnected the shift cable and took off the threaded barrel. The stern drive just wont budge. If the splines are rusted, what is the best way to get penetrating oil on them to see if it will be enough to pull the stern drive...not much room to work with?

If the splines are rusted in place, the only way may be to break something. The cheapest thing to cut is the input splined shaft.

Gonzo, thanks. I appreciate the feedback. I got lucky, well sort of. After a lot of penetrating oil the splines they released easily and I pulled the engine. Unlucky part, sterndrive will still not separate from transom assembly. Minor corrosion on bolts, nuts came off no problem. What should I try to get separation of sterndrive from transom housing?
