Here's a very cute 7' tortured ply catboat called Peacat. There were several 1992-1993 variations on "possibly the only Cape Cod style catboat that can be carried any distance fully rigged on one shoulder".

The builder was Don Betts, who described the project in two articles in Messing About In Boats -
    MAIB 9 19 14 : Some Points About Peacat
MAIB 10 17 16 : Peacat Update, which has a couple of great pictures including "Moving right along under an impressive amount of canvas for a seven footer".

Kudos to Mr Betts for a really fun design, and does anybody know if plans or more pictures are out there?

It looks cute, but it wouldn't be very useful. Barely enough capacity for one adult in flat water, and wouldn't have much stability.

    that is a great design!

C'mon NoEyes. Of course, it would be as useful as any any 7' boat, you would not build it thinking it will have lots of carrying capacity.

It would make a great kids boat, much nicer than the typical short el Torro type of pram dingy.

where can you get plans for such a boat?

    Other tiny sailboats

Well, apart from this little sweetheart there are :
Cape Cod Frosty (at 6'4", it makes the Peacat look ... huge)
    Phil Bolger's Queen Mab (7' by 32")
The Minuet pocket yacht (7'2" by 37.5")
    Joe Dobler's Pepita (7'3" by 46")
Christer Byström's Stella (various sizes starting from 7'8" by 37")

Yeah, could be a good kid's boat if the kid wasn't too big. I'm just looking at it and thinking how cramped it'd be for me. :D

    More Peacat pictures

A couple more pictures. I don't know Peacat's exact LOA and beam, but the designer said "each half of the hull can be cut from a single 4' by 8' sheet of marine plywood with no scarfing (after 372' of scarfed together boats it was time for a change!)."
