After a long winter in Sweden, I'm finally finished with my rebuild of my small trimaran, with new hulls (amas) with more volume, twin rudder (with twin tiller) and some other smaller improvement.
Yesterday I put the boat in water, and did a test-sail. A not so strong (0-12 knots )but cold wind from north.
Did my new design work? You be the judge ;)
Most different thing was actually the twin tillers, that I just could not remember to switch between and not bring it over to the other side like you do in a dinghy.

Cholssen, Looking to be some further great improvements there!

This really is a hugely impressive project you have undertaken and I love your updates.

Do you have an idea of the overall weight on your project now?

Do you know what volume is in those floats as well?

What is the new video camera system?

I was hoping to be getting on with my 5m project again by now but Covid means I'm working round the clock so looks like another year will go past with no progress....

Thanks for all kind and supportive words!
The overall weight including mast, sails, electric motor and battery is 175kg.
The cameras are same as last year. One Garmin 360 and one Garmin action cam. Both with metrics, speed and more.
But I built a nice stable camera pole for them both. When I mounted the yesterday I saw they covered each other. FAIL.
    will rebuild it this week.

Your boat looked surprisingly fast with previous amas, I wish you increased weight will not decrease velocity !

    Very impressive and professional looking.
I'm not sure I'd be sailing as cold as it looked - more power to you!

If you were to redesign for a new model, what would you change?

I'm impressed! How did you build the new ama's? I sure would like a ride...

Really good how you've evolved the design as you use Outlaw. It looks a much more robust and confidence inspiring boat now, and I'm sure any small reductions in speed due to any rig reduction or weight increase will be more than compensated by the added confidence to push the boat a little harder.

Thanks! The water was really cold. Used my fishing-survival-suit yesterday. It was sunny but don't think you survive too long if you fall in.

It's a very interesting question what could have been redesigned. Right now I feel I have built too much and sailed too little. Don't want to build or think about anything soon.
If I would have done something smaller it would have been interesting to use old-Nacra17 with high front as centre hull and use two pair of the new Nacra17 as amas. Or just take three F16 hulls put a fat carbon beam front and back.
Then maybe built something like Scarab18 to be able to sleep in.
Or.. not build anything and just buy the new Farrier F22. That boat looks amazing.
But.... here I am with my Outlaw and I have learned a lot.
But little tired of building now and tired of Corona ....

    Thanks

I was sailing our local club race this Tuesday. It was very windy and gusty. I started with only main-sail and no Code0.
My tri feels quit different from last year. It does NOT dig down the leeward hull when a strong gust comes, its just go faster or lifts two hull up.
Need to practice a lot I think, to find a balance. Downwind, I did not dare to use my Code0 alone. Still very cold in the water in Sweden.
One other boat capsized and was flooded and close to sink. They where rescued by the local rescue boat. Luckily all went fine.
Here is short video from my boat in the race

Used 3 centerboards. Don't know if that's necessary, but looked cool.
Also tested a 2.3 hp outboard engine I bought, to get me safe into the harbor. My electric one... don't have enough power when its windy.

Your boat looks very nice, and taking into account the level of building I really don't understand why you use a so poor system to control your mainsail ! using a centered mainsheet you can only twist the sail and you lose a lot of power downwind . A traveller on a curved track would be a great improvement on your downwind performance.

I think the wide angle lens on his video camera distorts the rig fall off. But for sure it has to be slowing the boat. Fix that Cholsson and you'll be seeing 20 knots boat speed easy.

That's the only obvious thing I'd fix from the video's.
Except waiting for warmer weather before flying the hulls. :D

But how do I make better control for the main-sail? I dont have a solution for that at all :)
    How could it be done?

Too late, you should have designed the aft beam location further forward under the boom, so you could have used a right track, like beach cat.
Another option is to use a whisbone in place of the boom, so you don't need a track.
