I know trawlers, while under way, often use paravanes out on booms to stabilize roll.

Has anyone every tried to use a paravane to stabilize pitch? Certain wave frequencies seem to excite a hobby horse action in catamarans. Could a paravane hung off the bow, maybe by the anchor rode, damp out the pitch movement.

If it could be done it would only be needed in the specific conditions that excite hobby horse pitch motion.

This is the type of paravane I am referring to.
