Hello nulik, check out James Warrams designs, he's the grandfather of home built ocean going cats. I think he has a new design for a 75' sailing cat. It wouldn't take much to bump up length to suit your needs. Big catamarans hold there value very well! Anything over 60' will start at a million dollars or more! You could build a large Warram for a whole lot less. What about wind power to back up your solar?. Also a cat that big will have room for lots of solar panels. There are also folks working on sewing solar panels right into the sails. Groovy idea! Eh? Perhaps a smaller company would require a few less cabins below and be easier to feed and to deal with. Fewer personality's to clash also! So nulik, keep this dream rolling and beware of the doomsayer sirens........peace.......g...[Ps, I like this idea so keep in touch!]

Not sure fancy programmers would be impressed with a Wharram catamaran. Personally I'd still fly them out to a desert island with a luxury hotel.

Sorry I don't, not with me, as I am wintering in Mexico and the drawings are in the UK

I remember at the time we drew the Indian Ocean research boat someone said "why not a Wharram" the reply was "because we want a big imposing boat so that the locals will take us seriously". One reason why we were asked to draw such a "big" 70fter

I would imagine the main problem will not be power supplies but fast internet connections when at sea (or even anchored)

Wintering in Mexico..what's wrong with Vancouver?

At any rate this whole thread was just one of the many that come along every week or two, then disappears. Like the guy wanting an 80' Power trimaran for 2 families. Or the type that show up and want to build an 80' yacht in a year or so,for a couple hundred grand.

My first post has YAD in it-that is Yet Another Dreamer.
Huge sail cat for computer coders trying to get work done while sea sick in a storm, plus 5-6 crew....it's comical, really.

Say what? Oh, I get it, this is the site where people with dreams and ideas get stomped on! Really? Are you so much better than them? Without computer programmers this site might not be here and you surely don't know how important they are these days. This idea is not so far fetched or comical to me. How about if you have nothing positive to say you say nothing, sure works for me. Nulik, don't let go of this idea. For every problem there is a solution! If you want i'll give you my email address and maybe we could yak about this idea.........................................g

I don't know how important programmers are?
Odd,as I happen to be quite a stellar one in a very specialized area. AND I wouldn't sign up for a gig like this and despite knowing quite a few programmers,I cannot think of one who would sign up either.

Programming at an all expenses paid/ all inclusive resort in Cabo or Yucatan, with drinks and a pool and bikini girls in the hot tub- HELL YES.

Jammed into a cat with 30 other people whilst sweating my *** off and bouncing around non stop....Hell No.

No one has posted the obvious answer. As big as you can afford.

I kind of doubt that they could afford one that would get into engineering limitations. If they do have 5 billion dollars front money, I would be interested in managing the project.

I wonder why it has to be a catamaran?
