    Balsa is probably better. More flexible too.

    I think the problem is that you are building too small.

    I found that a 1;10 scale was much harder to build than a 1:5 - the materials don't have to be so 'specialist'

    The thing I see is that if I buy a kit, I get everything I need for far less than I could build it for.

    I have a 10 inch 1000w dual voice coil subwoofer for trade if anyone has any kits lying around. :D

    maybe you are right. It only takes a mm or two somewhere to throw this size model way off fair.
