Johnson 85hp starter

    I just installed new brushes in the starter and now it rotates backwards!
    Any Ideas???

    Check the connections! make sure positive and negative are on the right posts.

    The connections to the battery were not removed and the starter has only one (+) cable. I think it probably has to do with the brush plate inside the starter but I think I got it oriented the same way it came apart. But???

    FOUND IT!!!
    It was the orientation of the brush plate (about 90-110 degrees turn and it works fine)
