    Dear Boat designers.

Following on from a previous post, which was about building a side rigger lateen rig canoe (from oil barrels), various other things have been donated since.

This is for a fun boat building/raft building event to race around a course in a bay. I am trying to build a lanteen rig side rigger type canoe using a lovely old sheet of canvas and various bits and bobs shown here.

As the trade wind is quite fierce at the moment a small sail area will be used but not sure how to provide lateral stability which will be needed on tacking to windward and returning to beach?

    Any ideas would be welcome
