Not sure of your point Hoyt.
The water glyph ATL does resemble slightly the eagle glyph Cuauhtli .
If you look more closely at ATL, it's a tipped over dish or cup, with water thrown out, but the red eye in the dish I can't explain.
Unless it represents fish in the water

 

Both Mexico and USA place the eagle high in national symbolism. An eagle could be a hat tip to both cultures.

My intent is simple. decorate with paint. Easy to renew or change.
Aztec glyphs are colorful and will please my wife, if I avoid overtly masculine symbols like warrior stuff.

Looking for mezzo-Indian (Inca, Mayan, Aztec) glyph for sleep or rest or relax.

No luck yet.

 

I will look, but the closest thing likely will be the glyph for chocolate.

 

I looked, but I didn't find.

Simplified and redrew glyph on wife's vanity table.

Retains essential elements of the Aztec design.
Not a lot I can do when it's raining.

 

The table top looks quite nice. It quit raining here a little while ago but more is expected.

 

Did I replicate the love filled eye glyph accurately enough?

 

I don't know if accuracy or precision would apply here, as an interpretation of the original, but it is reminiscent and good looking, if not seeing.

 

Rain past 3 days and forecast for next 3 days.
Can't work with resin in 100% humidity!

Wife's vanity table is same color paint as the pedestal and settee surround.
The light from the window above brightens it and table appears a different shade.
I like colors that change in different lights. Reduces boredom with the décor.

The view or perspective FROM my wife's chair, is more important than view OF the chair.
From her seat, she can see clear to the transom, down the starboard side tunnel berth, and see anyone approaching the port companionway or descending the steps.
She is close conversational distance with anyone seated on settee or Todd chair.
She is within reach of galley, without rising from chair, though needs to turn to her side.
A hatch above her, but not directly above, and two long cabin windows, one either side, provide light and external views.
The table top eye glyph is adoring her.
I think she'll recognize this is HER chair.
Of course, she can sit where she pleases.

 

Installing the cockpit.
Muddy and frequent rain squalls.
Everything bolts together then gets fiberglassed taped for watertite.

In the first picture, on left side of photo, is the full width seat, aft facing, attached to rear of dash/fish cleaning station.
It's protected seating under the wheelhouse roof.
Space under the seat is additional room in salon.

You see the ribbed cockpit sole in center of picture.
I raised the sole 3 inches higher than former cockpit seats were, so I can make it self bailing and good sitting headroom under.

The seat and sole are each 7 and half foot wide, port to starboard, so plenty of room for a snooze stretched out in the cockpit.

The locker cover in middle of seat is directly above engine box. Top of enginebox about 2 feet below seat.

the right side of 1st picture, shows aft companionway opening and cockpit lockers, a little bit.

Second picture shows port side salon companionway cut into seat back of aft facing seat mentioned above.
I widened original companionway opening by two inches.
Still building new coaming.

The pale green thing is the hatch for companionway.

This 2nd picture has weird perspectives. Everything to the right appears it's being squeezed together. Camera battery low? conserving space? Time warp?

 

This is the aft side of the cockpit with seat lockers and aft center companionway to enter aft cabin.

Can move from salon to aft cabin via tunnel berth as well.

Doesn't look like much in this photo, but will when it's all together.

 

I got some advice on the fish cleaning table a while back; Use a wood surface so the fish won't slide off so easily. I was going to use stainless steel but it is too slick and creates the risk of losing fish over the side.
