I've decided to bail out on the reconstruction/restoration of my 1985 DF-25 Mk I demountable.
This boat was Denmark built by Quorning and is balsa core.
One ama was badly damaged and even more badly repaired before I bought it. This ama will probably require a mold taken off the good one and new panels made to splice into the bad one, or another means. I was even considering making new high tech ama's.
There is lots of other work to be done as well- it will need sails, tramps, paint, mast step work, etc.
But it is easier than building a whole new boat!! The main hull is good, mast good.
It is located in Oakland, CA, on a trailer. I obviously do not expect to get much money for it, and may even give it away if need be. I would like to see it go to a good home that will bring back this rare classic.
    Thanks, Nate

Hope you find a good home for it. that was a FUN boat to sail.

Sounds like it needs a guy with building experience, and some money to put into it.

I hope so too, thanks for the good wishes.

I saw an Olson 30 at the boatyard yesterday that had received the treatment that I had envisioned for the DF-25- full restoration, it looks better than new with LPU, windows, hardware, etc. Not cheap and not quick but what a result.
Quite a but easier than a new build starting with mold construction though.
If I had a place to work that didn't cost $500/month I'd keep going with it and just do it over time, I actually enjoy working on it, although for me, without the skillz, everything goes slowly.

Australian reply, I have moulds, (and ideas to modernize) a 8 m Dragonfly (firefly, elen 7.7, etc), possibly extend in the middle to 9.2 m. Containers make the world smaller, can even offer accommodation to the starboard person. I need help with mine and will help you with yours. See 'help wanted'

Hi, I recently acquired a Dragonfly 800 Mk2- "maybe". I am interested in any info that anyone has, I am not even sure what model it really is. The bill of sale shows it built in 1986 as a 1987 model, but no manufacture's id. It has stainless straps securing the amas to the crossbeams, sort of like a Buccaneer, the rest of the boat looks like the pictures I have found online. I will post some photos later this week. Mine has some serious deck delamination, but is in decent condition otherwise. Good sails, rig, engine and I am used to repairing tri's. I have it ready for its first test sail, I will report back soon.

Beam, My boat is a Dragonfly, but it was built under license by another company, possibly PC moulding in Canada. As such, my version doesn't seem to be supported by Quorning and details about the USA/Canada built boats seems to be limited. The "real" Quorning built boats are of a higher quality than mine, I can see why they might not want to be connected with them. However, I don't mind a project, and the design is still the same. I am hoping someone that knows the actual Dragonfly history in the US will notice and post something. My boat doesn't have any identifying numbers but was registered as "built" in 1986 as a 1987 model, but registered in New York state as a homebuilt in 1994. The boat and all its parts look factory made, I would really like to find out what went on back then.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Bruce
