Diesel/Electric Propulsion for Sailboats

I think the next big epa mandate for boats will be variable speed dc gen sets.
That will save lots of fuel

 

EPA can kiss ...never mind.
I'm already ahead of them, for reasons of economy and power versatility, nothing to do with CO2. I like CO2, makes plants grow. I like nitrogen, too. I like everything the Lord made.
EPA wasn't one of His creations.

 

How about lead
That was killing us

 

Everything depends on perspective.
Lots of good uses for lead, including sailboat ballast.
Electronics depend on lead solder.
Lead acid batteries.
Lead can kill. Even that's not always a bad thing.
Lead has saved lots of lives, too.
When propelled by hot nitrogen, it's stopped the armies and ended the reign of psychopath tyrants.
It has efficiently relieved society of many mass murderers.

 

Radiation has a similar story but any exposure to lead is harmful to humans

 

Yachts should all have tungsten bulbs anyway and we should melt gold to join wires

 

Yachts should be designed so hull form provides stability and then they don't suffer poor economy dragging dead weight around.
Catamarans and trimarans do it. Dinghys manage it. My Albin 25s sail safely without permanent ballast.
