Cook Inlet Boats New Build

Hi Folks: I’ve gotten some good input on powering my new build fiberglass 26’ cruiser under construction by Cook Inlet Boats. So, I’m going to keep posting photo updates here.here are 10 showing the progress from start. Most recent pics are of the male plug that will be used for making the mold for the 9.5’ cabin. Also included js a photo of the 3’ outboard pod and swim step with step through door.

She seems to be coming along nicely.
Re the plug for making the cabin mould, is the mould going to be in two halves that bolt together?
I am thinking that with the shapes shown, it would not be possible to release a moulding from a 'one piece' mould?

 

Pretty cool. Is it a workboat?

Looks like the cabin plug needs some work or nothing will release.

Also curious why they didn't just use vacuum for the foam bonding. Perhaps it gets too much chance to move in the bag?

 

At this point he is thinking he can peel it off w/0 splitting it in half - waiting for the update in that. He’s good, I’m the first one out of the mold so probably some learning curve. This will be a cruiser for Prince William Sound n SE Alaska. Head, shower, hot water etc for staying out a week or two at a time. Builder doesn’t do any vacuum bag work at this time.

 

Unlikely he can remove it without splitting. I think Bajansailor is right. I'd just split it with a flange in the middle. Then the part would have a tabbing seam.

 

Visor looks good, tougher get those right. Have been fiddling with one trying to get proportions right, not easy to do. I'm not far from you geographically speaking, looks pretty neat!

 

The cabin looks to be a three piece mold, deck, cabin, and top.
