Those guys talk funny but they certainly seem to know how to build a boat. What else would one expect from Vikings?.

Well, here in Finland, we do not exactly count ourselves as Vikings. But the tradition of building lapstrake boats and similarities in design are obvious.

Edit: And yes, we talk funny.

Jarmo; No offense intended with the Viking mention. That was a matter of cultural ignorance on my part. I do know that there are superb boat craftsmen in all parts of your region.

I'm not even going to mention what I thought the language was. Nothing funny about building a boat though. It's so pleasant to see a boat growing from such simple beginnings, no complex building jig, power tools or even plans apparently, just knowing what to do.

The language is Swedish, one of the dialects spoken east of the Gulf of Bottnia. About 5% of the Finnish population has Swedish as the native language, if my memory is correct.
