Hello, can anyone advise how to install a chain stopper(JIS F-2015). On our last vessel, we use the same type of chain stopper but when we suddenly released the chain for testing, the chain stopper cracked. :(
So, will anyone can advise how to install the chain stopper properly to avoid the same thing happens. Please guide me with live photo if you have it. Thank you and may god bless you.

Good question...which fails first...the stopper ? or the chain ?

I dont know the proper sequence in design. Remember, the stopper point loads and fatigues the chain .

well, if you can see that type of chain stopper, it have groove on its centerline. The crack occured on the groove and finally the stopper splitted.

Hmm...sounds overloaded or poorly installed, designed or used. Post a picture.

Did you use the chain stopper for anchoring? Proper seamanship calls for a line, cable or chain to take the tension.
