Building a pontoon boat

    Greetings.
    Been lurking on this forum and getting ideas. Thanks to all of you!

    Taking a leap and am going to build an electric pontoon boat.
    I shall be purchasing 4 floats and 2 nose cones from this manufacturer (http://www.jojotanks.co.za/products/agriculturalproducts/nose-cones-detail )

    Thinking about building the frame out of 25mm square aluminium tubing and securing the pontoons with 6mm stainless flat bar. (Got some lying around)

    Am I on the right track here? Please advise.

    most pontoon boats based on aluminum cylinders of similar diameter are bridged by Z girts. your 1" square tubing is too easily bent to be of much structural use unless you use it to build complex trusswork.

    6mm stainless bands would similarly be mis-proportioned, but in the opposite extreme.

    for a simple 8-10 foot wide framework you want 3" channel aluminum or 3" zee girts, and 3 mm X 3" wide banding of either stainless or aluminum, or thereabouts.
