I looking for the Boatbuilder magazine issues Jan/Feb 2001 & Mar/Apr 2001 about the Nester Dingy. I've tried eBay and searched the internet for them but no luck. I have issues from '95 to '98. What happened to the magazine?

I'll assume you're talking about Dave Geer's Nester dinghy.

The plans for the Nester dinghy are in Dave Gerr's book 'The Nature of Boats'.

Paul, he means "Boatbuilder" magazine that has been out of publication for several years and yes, the nester is a Dave Gerr design. Boatbuilder was a good little magazine for home builders, published out of Merritt Island that was moved about a couple of times and then folded.

Yeah, I remember that rag. It's been down for a while now.

"good little magazine" or "rag" ? It must be in the eye of the beholder ?

Yeah, it does depend on the viewpoint. BOATBUILDER was a low budget "rag" that printed material from the home boatbuilder and a few professionals like Dave Gerr. It provided an outlet and distribution somewhat like these forums do now. The technical level was a couple cuts above "MESSING ABOUT" but there was nothing slick about it and advertisers had no control over the content. It was undoubtedly responsible for getting me started doing plans after there was positive response to my articles on designing and building my boat. More than anything else, there was a letter from a well known designer that encouraged me to do the work. Would probably not have happened otherwise so I am appreciative of that rag and I don't think Paul meant anything negative about it.

No, I didn't. I'm pretty picky about magazines, content, layout, self serving advertising opposite of featured bit of the same product or serves, etc,. I worked in the industry for a while and am tainted.
