    Hi,

Looking to get a ventilation blower for our engine room. Axial blowers are about 1/6th the cost of centrifugal blowers with the same CFM ratings.

I'm assuming the centrifugal ones can handle greater static pressure, hence the cost. Any "rules of thumb" when choosing one over the other ?

    Cheers,

Might it depend on whether air can be extracted direct to the outside environment ?

Are these blowers getting air in or out of the engineroom?

Axial fans: large displacement, low pressure, noisy and mouse-friendly when not running.

Radial fans: less displacement, higher pressure, less noise. More suitable for ventilation through ducts or hoses.

    Hi,

It will be used for extraction, with a very short run to the ventilator (right under deck).

    Cheers,

If the boat has an inverter , sometimes a 120V setup is far more powerful and cheaper than a 12v DC setup.
