I have an Alpha II stern drive and a gimbal that I need to put together off the boat for some special fitting of an engine. My question is what is the easiest way to mount the gimbal to the stern drive? I am having a problem where the u-joint fits into the gimbal. Any special banging hammering etc...will be appreciated. :D

    Thanks

Surprised this topic never got a reply. I've felt I was in danger of squeezing a finger or two trying to get the ujoint/shaft to go in without wobbling crooked ;) but never had trouble getting them together or had to bang them at all. Had to fiddle with the shift lever arm a bit at the bottom but that was it (you need a helper if you're putting it on by hand and don't have a lift to carry the weight for you.)

The easiest, and only logical way, to mount the gimbal to the sterndrive is using the factory studs and nuts. I don't really understand what you are having a problem with.
