The skiff is still simmering in my brain. It could take a long time to materialize.

Hoyt, if you have a mind to visit, I will buy you a cup of coffee . We can argue design principles for a given SOR, and take a look at some of the drawings on my board. Also some models to examine and critique. I have an extensive library all the way up to Faltinsens elaborate book.

Buying now instead of building seems the best option now, considering a lot of factors like boat insurance and availability of workspace.

Are you aiming for new or used Hoyt ?

some 18' to 22' Sport Utility production Skiffs for Coastal Florida, it actually starts at 0:34, and alas has some more ads in between...

We have found a handful of likely choices, all with a beam under 8 feet. Boat show October 3 at Florida State Fairgrounds will likely be when we make a decision.
Used or new? We shall see. Neither ruled out of the running.

I would say, if he didn't catch you, he didn't want you. :p

Yes, that's a piece of a Mastodon tooth in my wife's hand.

To get the gators to leave you alone, just whup a couple in wrestling and you get a reputation as someone not to mess with. ;)

I heard it splash immediately after I splashed. It was a very short swim for me! It was about 50 yards away. I left the water faster than ever before.

If a gator did get me, I would consider us even.

Okay, since we purchased a Key West 1720 last October, we have decided to build a pair of canoes for paddling around locally and on camping trips. We want to keep them light for ease in loading them onto the van's roof rack.
We're not big fans of kayaks so we eliminated those as an option.

how about something like a piro? Flat bottom stability, hard chine ease of build.
