    Hi

I just boat a project 23 SeaCraft IB with a pocket drive. This configuration of the boat is notorious for being a pig. I’ve seen discussions on venting pockets. What would be the potential negative side effects of this? All of your expert advice will be greatly appreciated!

A lot of the problem can probably be blamed on the inefficient shaft angle of an IB but from what I’ve read adding more power on that model doesn’t add as much in speed as the given increase in power would seem to merit. The idea of venting the pocket was raised on ClassicSeaCraft.com but it was pointed out there may be negative side effects of the modification. I was just wondering what and how serious these potential problems could be.

The "problem" is what ? The running angle of the boat, or ?
