Could you please explain what kind of different electrons are flowing in stray currents and eddy currents?
On the one hand you state, small eddy currents do not cause corrosion and a few seconds later, you state " small eddy currents still exsist" Are the electrons bigger? do they spin otherwise, or do they have a special label, "eddy current, I will not create corrosion if I sense moisture?"

because induced eddy currents caused by magnetic coupling are very small, whereas directly impressed by way of leakage or fault currents, using the hull as a return path can be quite large ( many milli amps etc).

Really Bert, you are arguing irrelevancies. The goal in aluminium hull construction is to render the hull as electrically inert as possible. No system is perfect, some small currents will always be present. BUT an electrically isolated system offers the best design to reduce the possibly of corrosion currents. This fact is stated again and again by experts in the field of aluminium design. Please stop just trying to be difficult.

It may not be possible for all sorts of reasons, to install an isolated or optimum DC or AC system. Cost, size of boat, owners interest, etc play a factor, that does not take away from the fact is the best system is as stated.

For that reason I would monitor any current flow through the central point. Which would alert me to a problem.

I am so pleased that I am able to express my personal view, choices and ideas at this form, without that somebody is rude or tries to hammer other peoples idea's down his throat.

    I sense some backtracking.

Dave, you are a newcomer to this forum. maybe you should run other people down on a humoristic way, not on a rude way. I also like sometimes to blast somebody out in a nasty way, and boy o boy, I can be 100 times nastier, but have the courtesy to be polite.

Bert old buddy, Ive been registered on this forum for years and have contributed here and there . I'm a major contributor to CF and other forums.

Secondly What annoys me is people who defy accepted scientific reason, argue irrelevancies ( like lightening, UFOs and Eiffel towers) yet put forward no valid alternative reasoning. They wither on in the face of overwhelming logic not only from the thread responder, but from quotes from other acknowledged experts, merely stringing along the argument for the sake of it.

" also like sometimes to blast somebody out in a nasty way, and boy o boy, I can be 100 times nastier, but have the courtesy to be polite."

Oooggggh Im terrified. Youre the one that's getting personal. I merely stuck rigidly to the arguments

    as to
    "I sense some backtracking. "

Again Bert you have actually no interest in the scientific argument, merely point scoring. If you had an scientific interest you might debate the reasons why acknowledged experts recommend the isolated approach. But all you do is make irrelevant comments and belittle the poster

I think at this stage the technical debate is finished in this debate, posters can determined for themselves whatever approach they wish.

No doubt well cross swords again

    Dave

My humble apology, I have been wrong all the time and did not realize how important it was to you.
