Hi, looking for help hope this is correct place to ask my question. My son made a 10ft x 2ft flat bottom punt with slanted bow. Not as stable as he liked it to be. I have a sheet of metal with 1 3/4 inch pieces sticking out from the flat part of the sheet metal like what you would put on a roof or building walls outside. If he covered the bottom with it, the 1 3/4 inches pieces would be like a keel but one on each side of the boat the same distance from the center. Would this help to stabilize it?

Hi. Thanks for reply. Would stabilizers attached to sides of boat work?

If you put a belt 6" wide both sides, the full length and depth of it, that should improve the stability no end. Something as simple as polystyrene foam, preferably painted with some latex paint. How to attach it, well a few lengths of stainless threaded rod with a wide timber strip against the foam, and tighten against the side of the boat.
