    Lapstrake, or clinker, takes a lot of skill to get it right. The planks have a rolling bevel where they meet on the laps. Also, the plank ends have rabbets so the lap disappears into the bow stem and transom. A multichine plywood hull would be much easier as a first build. Traditional boatbuilding skills take years to aquire, usually working with a shipwright.
